How to choose the right marquee for your Auckland event

Get the size, setup, and paperwork right - first time.

Planning an outdoor event in Auckland comes with a few moving parts: space, weather, access, safety, and kit. This guide gives you a simple, confident way to choose the right marquee size and setup for your site. If you’d like, we can visit your location and measure up so you know exactly what will fit.

Start with your site: space, access, surface

Quick answer: If your site is on concrete or we can’t peg into the ground, we’ll bring weights. On grass, pegging is usually best.

Auckland sections vary a lot. Before we talk styles and décor, we look at:

  • Space and access: driveway width, turns, clearances. We can do a complimentary on-site consultation and measure up. Marquee Hire City

  • Surface: grass vs concrete affects anchoring and options. If pegging isn’t possible, we weight the marquee safely.

Pick a marquee size with confidence

We use NZ-made Baytex clipframe marquees in two core widths: 10 m (length grows in 5 m bays) and 6 m (length grows in 3 m bays).

We also supply 5×5 m and 6×6 m fete marquees, plus small 3×3, 3×6, 4×4, 4×8 m units for stalls and compact setups.

How big for ~120 guests? A common fit is 10×25 m for a 120-person wedding (adjust if you’re adding a big band or stage).

Weather, safety, and documentation

Auckland weather changes quickly. Our Baytex marquees are built for it—NZ-made and engineered to withstand winds up to 120 kph, suitable for grass and concrete installs. We can provide engineering reports, fire safety specs, SSSPs and consents on request.

Clear vs clear-roof: We don’t offer clear-roof marquees (we do have clear walls). Clear roofs can act like a glasshouse and get extremely hot—even florists push back on them. If you go clear-roof elsewhere, be mindful of heat.

What’s included and how hire works

  • Standard hire period: 3 days (typical install Thu/Fri, pack-down Mon/Tue).

  • Setup & pack-down: Our crew installs before your event for safety and polish, then returns after.

  • Equipment in one place: flooring, tables, chairs, lighting, heaters, PA, décor and more—kept simple through one team.

Costs: Marquees start from $600. Final pricing depends on size, surface, access, equipment and timing.
